RHE

  • ‘Today’s children and young people are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives seamlessly on and offline. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive way.’ (Secretary of State Forward from Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education guidance 2019)

    RHE at St Joseph's

At St Joseph’s we aim to deliver a fully-integrated and holistic programme of RHE that truly enables our children to ‘live life to the full’ (John 10:10). Our new scheme – Ten:Ten ‘Life to the Full’ is an entire platform of creative resources that will engage , inform and inspire children, parents and staff.

The new curriculum covers many areas and has a strong emphasis on relationships. The focus of this is on teaching the fundamental building blocks and characteristics of positive relationships including: friendships, family relationships and relationships with other children and adults.

Ten:Ten ‘Life to the Full’ programme

This programme is taught across 4 learning stage: EYFS, KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2.

Each learning stage has three modules based on the themes of the CES Model curriculum:

    1. Created and loved by God
    2. Created to love others
    3. Created to live in community

RHE (being a large part of the PSHE curriculum) helps to provide a backbone of social, moral, spiritual and cultural skills needed across all curriculum areas and in everyday life.

    RE

The 10:10 scheme is closely linked to our RE curriculum, building on Gospel values and understanding of Catholic life.
